MBI was hired as the Structural Engineer of Record for the Nitrogen Plant Expansion Projects in Donaldsonville, LA and Port Neal, IA. Both were constructed through a German EPC firm located in Dortmund, Germany. Collaboration with this EPC firm, a German A/E firm (Codema located in Dusseldorf, Germany), an Indian Engineering Design Firm located in Mumbai, India and two additional European design firms was required to complete the two plants. In addition to the structural services, we provided specification development for the entire project along with full A/E services (arch, mech, elec, plumbing) for the non-process structures which included seven buildings across both projects. Three control buildings, and four motor control centers. Each building was required to have blast protection and were supported on deep foundation in Donaldsonville, LA. These buildings served as the heart and brains for the control systems across each plant.
