MBI provided architectural, engineering, and interior design services to transform the 50-year-old Southern Auto Body building into the new Keller Williams Downtown Chattanooga realty office. The site was cleaned of past environmental contaminants and configured to provide much needed parking within the urban surroundings. The existing 8,000 SF of automotive garage bays were re-purposed to house the larger break-out conference and training rooms. The existing bay doors open to the interior common “street” which connects the rear urban courtyard to the front entrance lobby. The project includes 16,000 SF of newly constructed, multi-configurational office space.
The interior office areas open to the outdoors with vast amounts of aluminum framed glass surrounded by industrial brick and metal to complement the building’s urban surroundings. The main entrance is highlighted by red and black, Keller Williams’ corporate logo colors. “Glass box” conference rooms and large clerestory windows allow natural lighting to flow throughout the building. Space planning for dozens of Keller Williams agencies totaling over 250 staff had to be thoughtfully planned and accommodate the need for flexibility and growth.
