MBI Companies Inc. was contracted by Pellissippi Investors, owners of the National Transportation Research Center (NTRC, a joint research hub for the U.S. Department of Energy, UT/ Battelle and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory) to provide Architectural, Fire Protection, and Engineering services. The 46,577 ft² facility provides industry access to unique research facilities that reduce the risk and enable pathways for revolutionary manufacturing processes and materials technologies.

This facility primarily consists of highly specialized laboratory space with a connected two story office building to support the ongoing needs of U.S. DOE, UT/ Battelle and ORNL employees. The office houses 38 private offices, state of the art multimedia conference room, two smaller conference rooms, and open office space.
