Originally built in 1937, Tyner High and Middle Academies have undergone numerous additions and renovations reaching the end of their useful life. Working closely with Hamilton County and the Hamilton County Department of Education, MBI developed a comprehensive plan for the design and phased construction of a new combined middle and high school on the existing site. This approach allowed the campus to remain operational throughout construction.

The new Tyner Middle High Academy is the first school in Hamilton County designed to support Future Ready Institute learning. The two-story facility accommodates up to 1,400 students in grades 6–12. It supports both academic and athletic programs. Campus amenities include two gymnasiums, a turfed football, soccer, and track stadium. Additionally, it features practice fields and upgraded softball and baseball facilities. There are also state-required core curriculum spaces.

Security and student well-being were key priorities throughout the design process. MBI collaborated with community leaders, the Sheriff’s Department, and school administrators. The goal was to address modern safety, security, and social considerations through thoughtful planning and campus design.
