MBI was selected to design the renovation of the main floor of Fletcher Hall to house the College of Business Student Success Center. The project creates a centralized, welcoming environment where students can easily access academic advising, career counseling, and support services.
The design reflects the College’s goal of creating a more corporate, professional, and engaging atmosphere. The Success Center includes faculty offices, reception areas, conference and board rooms, and upgraded restrooms. It also features a student activity area and multiple collaboration and research zones. Transparency and openness guide the layout. This helps students feel comfortable, supported, and connected.
MBI was previously selected to repurpose Fletcher Hall—originally built during the Great Depression as the University/City Library—into a modern home for the College of Business. That earlier project included a complete renovation of the original 40,000-square-foot building. It also involved the removal of eight levels of book stacks. There was a 40,000-square-foot addition designed to complement the historic architecture and surrounding campus context.
The transformation required full replacement of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems while delivering new lecture halls, classrooms, and faculty offices. Fletcher Hall stands as a strong example of sustainable, adaptive reuse architecture that balances historic character with modern academic needs.
