In partnership with Partners Development and the UT Research Foundation, MBI designed this project aimed at fostering research and development while enhancing teaching and training capabilities. The project involved the design of a massive 77,400 SF research and development building, complete with high bay testing facilities, classrooms, wet/dry laboratories, conference and meeting spaces, office space for co-locating outside companies associated with the research program, and retail and restaurant components to serve the Park. The building enables the University’s Engineering and Agriculture Colleges to collaborate with the private sector to develop respective business platforms while enhancing teaching and training necessary for the University to foster new business and long-term relationships.
MBI worked with the University of Tennessee to incorporate their program for the research facility to support high-bay interdisciplinary research, creating an environment where students can learn and experiment while also contributing to innovative research that has real-world applications. The high-bay and its support labs will serve as a hub for groundbreaking research in various areas, including renewable carbon, civil and environmental engineering, advanced materials, and mechanical engineering. This gives UTK cutting edge facilities to enable students to train and learn in a real-world environment to develop practical skills that are essential for success in their respective fields.
