MBI served as the facility architect and engineer of record for SkyFly, an immersive indoor flying theater attraction located at The Island in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. It is positioned adjacent to the iconic Great Smoky Mountain Wheel and across from Margaritaville—also designed by MBI. The attraction enhances The Island’s reputation as a premier entertainment destination in the Smoky Mountains.
SkyFly delivers a high-energy, cinematic flying theater experience within a bold steampunk and industrial-inspired environment. Layered materials, exposed structural elements, and dramatic lighting create a fully immersive guest experience from arrival through ride exit.
MBI’s multidisciplinary team of architects, engineers, and interior designers collaborated closely with the ride manufacturer and thematic consultants. Their goal was to coordinate architectural design, structural systems, mechanical and electrical integration, life-safety requirements, and guest circulation. The design efficiently accommodates complex ride systems within a compact, high-traffic entertainment venue.
The completed attraction blends architecture, engineering, and storytelling to create a memorable, themed entertainment experience for visitors to Pigeon Forge.
