MBI provided comprehensive design and engineering services for the University of Tennessee Medical Center’s first off-campus freestanding emergency department in Jamestown, Tennessee. Services included architectural design along with electrical, mechanical, civil, and structural engineering. This supports the delivery of a modern healthcare facility for Jamestown and surrounding communities.
Designed to improve emergency response times and expand access to critical care in a rural setting, the project combined a 6,600-square-foot renovation with a 2,980-square-foot expansion. As a result, the facility became a freestanding emergency department with integrated imaging and clinical services.
The emergency department includes six exam rooms, a dedicated trauma room, triage area, decontamination shower, physician’s office, laboratory, and imaging suite with CT scanning capabilities. Additional spaces include nursing workstations, reception and waiting areas, medical storage, pharmacy, staff break room, and on-call sleep room.
The Jamestown freestanding emergency department strengthens regional emergency care infrastructure while providing a flexible, efficient design to support evolving healthcare needs.
