The ProNova Research & Development Building is a new corporate headquarters, research, and development building for ProNova, LLC. The facility consists of 53,000 sf of office and manufacturing space in the Pellissippi Place development in Alcoa. ProNova will refine their research and development on their cutting edge proton therapy machines and manufacture them at the facility. One of the mandatory requirements for new construction in Pellissippi Place is that a project must be LEED designed with a minimum label of ‘LEED Certified’. The use of pre-finished insulated metal panels, clerestory windows for daylight harvesting, and a white TPO roof all contribute to the efficiency of the exterior building envelope. Making a strong statement and tying back to their main campus in Dowell Springs, the exterior design is contemporary, but also will stand the test of time. The building and site were both designed with expansion in mind. A total of five
phases can be added to the manufacturing side of the facility without interrupting the current production. The office building can also be expanded to nearly triple the current square footage.
