MBI Companies, Inc. was contracted by Pellissippi Investors, owners of the National Transportation Research Center (NTRC), to provide comprehensive architectural, fire protection, and engineering design services. NTRC is a collaborative research hub supporting the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), UT-Battelle, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
The 46,577-square-foot facility provides industry partners access to specialized research environments. These environments reduce risk and accelerate the development of advanced manufacturing processes and innovative materials technologies.
The facility consists primarily of highly specialized laboratory spaces, supported by an attached two-story office building designed to serve DOE, UT-Battelle, and ORNL personnel. The office component includes 38 private offices, a state-of-the-art multimedia conference room, and two additional conference rooms. In addition, there is open office workspace, creating a collaborative and functional environment to support ongoing research initiatives.
